Announcing Six Clone Wars-era Expansions for Star Wars: Legion

Though they may differ ideologically, the major powers behind the Clone Wars are remarkably similar when it comes to filling out their armies. Rather than round out their ranks with fresh-faced recruits, both the Galactic Republic and Separatist Alliance turn to soldiers who are made rather than born. This manufactured might helps them wage war on a galactic scale, and now more troops, vehicles and leaders are on their way to lend their strength to this conflict.

Fantasy Flight Games is proud to announce six new Clone Wars-era expansions for Star Wars™: Legion

Whether you focus on bringing down your foes with superior training and tactical flexibility as the Republic or crushing your enemies with fine-tuned machines of war as the Separatists, these expansions add powerful new options to each faction's arsenal. Featuring additional miniatures to add to your collection, as well as new weapon upgrades and command cards, these units have something to contribute in every phase of battle.

Count Dooku Commander Expansion

While much of the galaxy knows him as the Separatist Alliance's Head of State, Count Dooku serves a more sinister purpose. Actually a powerful Sith lord, Dooku works behind the scenes to bring down the Jedi and destroy the Republic once and for all. As the rare Separatist unit powerful in the Force, he takes to the battles of the Clone Wars ready to show off his skills to any bold enough to challenge him.

Dooku's hatred of the Jedi fuels him on the battlefield and he unleashes his anger on opponents with a particularly elegant and aggressive style of lightsaber combat. But Count Dooku never lets his anger control him. Instead, he is a cunning commander who baits his opponents into making grave mistakes before cutting them down. Whether attacking with his lightsaber and Force lightning or directing his forces in battle, Dooku will find his enemy's weakness and ruthlessly exploit them to great effect.

Within the Count Dooku Commander Expansion, you'll find one unpainted and finely detailed Count Dooku miniature challenging all comers with his lightsaber. Additionally, four upgrade cards let you explore the depths of Dooku's Force powers, while three command cards invite you to make him a central piece of your army's strategy. Like previous Star Wars: Legion releases, the miniature in this expansion will be made of soft plastic and its pieces will be bagged.

Clone Captain Rex Commander Expansion

A clone trooper unafraid to use more unorthodox tactics, Clone Captain Rex served with distinction throughout the Clone Wars, often fighting alongside exemplary Jedi Knights such as Anakin Skywalker. He viewed military service as an honor, and his loyalty to the Republic and his Jedi Generals was absolute.

Rex honed the use of twin blaster pistols into an art form, leading his fellow clones to victory on countless battlefields across the galaxy. In addition to being a hardened warrior skilled in both ranged and hand-to-hand combat, Rex strives to bring out the best in the clone troopers under his command. As a result, he often works closely with them to make coordinated movements and attacks that his droid counterparts are incapable of.

The Clone Captain Rex Commander Expansion contains everything you need to add this new commander to your Galactic Republic army, including an unpainted Clone Captain Rex miniature that can be assembled without his helmet, or with either a Phase I or Phase II Clone Trooper helmet. This miniature comes with Rex's three signature command cards that give him the power to issue orders to his fellow clone troopers, as well as five upgrade cards inviting you to unlock Rex's full potential. Like previous Star Wars: Legion releases, the miniature in this expansion will be made of soft plastic and its pieces will be bagged.

Phase II Clone Troopers Unit Expansion

Phase II clone trooper armor reflected one of the Republic's greatest technological successes and included advanced tactical gear that further augmented the clone troopers' individual strengths. Additionally, the clones wearing this armor were themselves better trained and more experienced than those first deployed at the start of the war. 

With this armor, the clone troopers that made up the bulk of the Republic's forces become even more reliable, impressing their Jedi Generals and making it clear why they were considered one of the best fighting forces the galaxy has ever seen. On top of the clones' increased capabilities, Phase II armor also made it possible for clones to carry powerful mortar launchers into battle, making the Republic's weapon pull even more diverse.

Within the Phase II Clone Troopers Unit Expansion, you'll find everything you need to deploy an elite corps unit of Phase II Clone Troopers, including seven hard plastic Phase II Clone Trooper miniatures on frames. First, the unit's leader can be assembled with or without his helmet. Similarly, a Z-6 Phase II Trooper can be built with or without his helmet or, if you choose, he can carry his signature Z-6 Rotary Blaster or the standard DC-15A Blaster Rifle. Finally, a Phase II Mortar Trooper can lug his mortar into battle stowed on his back or with the mortar fully deployed.

B2 Super Battle Droids Unit Expansion

B2 super battle droids were the hulking, brutal cousins of the wiry B1-series battle droids of the Separatist army. Heavily armored and devastatingly powerful with their integrated wrist blasters, the sight of a squad of these droids on the battlefield could chill even the most seasoned clone troopers.

Like their fellow battle droids, B2 units share the compulsion to attack at the first sight of the enemy. Unlike these other droids, however, they bring heavy firepower to these attacks. When their standard arm cannons aren't enough, a B2-ACM Trooper can add even more firepower to the unit or a B2-HA Trooper can punch a hole through enemy defenses.

The B2 Super Battle Droids Unit Expansion provides your army with six hard plastic B2 Super Battle Droid miniatures on frames to add to your Star Wars: Legion collection. Four of these miniatures feature the standard wrist cannons seen on most B2 battle droids and three of them can be posed in a variety of positions. Meanwhile, separate B2-HA and B2-ACM miniatures menace opposing armies with heavy weapons.

TX-130 Saber-class Fighter Tank Unit Expansion

A light repulsor tank designed with the tactical flexibility of a starfighter, the TX-130 Saber-class fighter tank is agile and swift, making it an ideal match for the heightened acuity of Jedi Generals like Aayla Secura or Plo Koon. For a battle tank, the Saber-class can be elegant as it nimbly weaves across the battlefield, slashing entire formations with a beam cannon or ripping apart enemy armor with twin laser cannons.

While the TX-130 is surprisingly swift, this extra speed and maneuverability leaves it more vulerable to enemy attacks than similar heavy vehicles. Still, both Jedi and clones can use the Saber-class tank to great effect, and a variety of new ordnance allows Republic commanders to equip this tank with the shells that fit their exact battle plan.

Within the TX-130 Saber-class Fighter Tank Unit Expansion, you'll find everything you need to incorporate one of these powerful repulsor tanks into your Galactic Republic armies, beginning with an unpainted and beautifully detailed hard plastic TX-130 Saber-class Tank miniature that can be assembled with its missile pod doors open or closed. In addition to choosing how the tank's missile pods are assembled, you can also customize the look of the turret, choosing between a twin laser turret or a beam cannon turret. Finally, this turret can be manned by a Clone Trooper with either a Phase I or Phase II helmet.

On top of how it looks, you can also customize how your Saber-class tank functions in battle with ten upgrade cards that invite you to swap out its pilots, weapons, ordnance, and comms systems. AAT Trade Federation Battle Tank Unit Expansion

The AAT Trade Federation battle tank is a hard-hitting vehicle favored by Separatist commanders like Lok Durd. While its droid operatives require precise commands to be used to full effect, its primary MX-8 artillery laser cannons can blast out barrages that target multiple enemies or hammer the same foe with twice the firepower, and its anti-personnel armament can even whittle down squads as heavily armored as Clone Troopers.

Although not autonomous itself, cunning tactical droid pilots help the AAT tank blend seamlessly with the Separatist's interlinked droid army. Unlike their lightly-armed cousins on the ground, AAT pilots have prodigious power at their disposal. When the tank's standard armament isn't enough, commanders can always call on a variety of heavy ordnance to hammer enemy vehicles and troopers.

With the AAT Trade Federation Battle Tank Unit Expanion, you can add one of these heavy tanks to your Separatist army. The unpainted, finely-detailed hard plastic minitature you find here can be constructed with its hatch closed or with a B1 Battle Droid scanning the horizon for new targets. In addition to this miniature, you'll find everything you need to fully customize it to your personal strategy, including eight upgrade cards and a unit card.

But select troopers also bring a range of other weapons and skills to their squads and soon you’ll have more options than ever to move your corps units beyond standard issue.

Imperial Stormtroopers Upgrade Expansion

A ubiquitous sight across the galaxy, white-armored stormtroopers strike fear into the hearts of all those who would oppose the Empire. Though their uniform armor and rigid tactics emphasize the crushing weight of Imperial might, Stormtroopers can be surprisingly flexible units that serve a multitude of roles in Imperial strike forces.

A DLT-19 Stormtrooper from the Star Wars: Legion Core Set or the Stormtroopers Unit Expansion, for example, can blast enemies—even those with armor—from beyond the range of a standard E-11 blaster rifle. Similarly, an  RT-97C Stormtrooper found in the Imperial Stormtroopers Upgrade Expansion can maintain these long range shots while also producing a higher rate of fire.

Within this expansion, you’ll find four unpainted, uniquely sculpted soft plastic Imperial Stormtrooper miniatures to enhance your existing Stormtrooper units. Joining a Stormtrooper Captain are a Stormtrooper Specialist as well as a T-21 Stormtrooper and an RT-97C Stormtrooper that can both be constructed with their heavy weapons or the standard E-11 blaster rifle. These miniatures are accompanied by seven upgrade cards that allow you to incorporate them into your existing Stormtrooper units as well as a unit card inviting you to create a completely new unit.

Rebel Troopers Upgrade Expansion

The Rebellion is made up of beings from countless worlds, all standing united in opposition to the tyranny of the Empire. No matter what world they hail from, every Rebel trooper dedicates their life to fighting on the front lines for the cause of the Rebellion. Now, you can add even more diversity to your Rebel ranks with the new miniatures and upgrades found in the Rebel Troopers Upgrade Expansion.

This expansion gives you everything you need to enhance both the look of your Rebel Troopers units and how they operate in battle. In addition to new Rebel Trooper miniatures representing aliens from across the Star Wars galaxy, you’ll also find new personnel and heavy weapons upgrades to add to your armies, such as a DLT-20A Trooper that can deal critical damage from long range.

In total, you’ll find four finely detailed, unpainted new soft plastic Rebel Trooper miniatures in this expansion, including an Ishi Tib Rebel Trooper Captain, a Gran Rebel Trooper Specialist, an Ithorian SX-21 Trooper, and a Theelin DLT-20A Trooper. A unit card gives you the option of mustering a new unit using these miniatures, while seven upgrade cards invite you to customize any unit of Rebel Troopers.

B1 Battle Droids Upgrade Expansion

The Separatist Alliance’s B1 Battle Droids are manufactured to attack in massive numbers and wear down enemy forces through raw attrition alone. But that does not mean they don't have other purposes to serve as the Separatists seek to overthrow the Galactic Republic. Other series of battle droids perform a variety of tasks for the Separatist military and a select few droids are outfitted with different weapons that give them unique capabilities.

While B1 Battle Droids are most commonly seen assaulting enemy positions in the thick of battle, they can serve functions outside of all-out combat. Once a planet has been conquered, for example, B1 Security Droids  are needed to keep the peace and quash all resistance. As a result, they remove their fellow battle droids' compulsion to instantly attack any target that may present itself.

The B1 Battle Droids Upgrade Expansion helps you enhance your existing B1 Battle Droid units with new miniatures and cards. Four new unpainted, hard plastic B1 Battle Droid miniatures, including an OOM-Series Battle Droid, a B1 Security Droid, a Radiation Cannon B1 Trooper, and an E-5s B1 Trooper arrive on frames to offer new options for your Separatist forces. Meanwhile, a unit card helps you muster these miniatures and your existing B1 Battle Droids into a cohesive unit while seven upgrade cards invite you to seamlessly incorporate them into this or any of your other B1 Battle Droid units.

Phase I Clone Troopers Upgrade Expansion

The Galactic Republic’s Phase I Clone Troopers are always armed with state-of-the-art equipment. For most clone troopers, this means carrying the powerful and versatile DC-15A blaster rifle, but a select few Phase I Troopers are trained in the use of even more weapons, ensuring the Grand Army of the Republic is prepared for any situation.

While weapons like the Z-6 rotary blaster cannon give units of Phase I Clone Troopers plenty of anti-personnel fire to handle waves of Separatist battle droids, these units can also choose to bring along an RPS-6 Phase I Trooper  instead, giving them a powerful option against armored units like B2 Super Battle Droids or an AAT Trade Federation Battle Tank.

The Phase I Clone Troopers Upgrade Expansion puts powerful new options such as this at your fingertips, including seven upgrade cards offering additional personnel, heavy weapons, training, grenades, and equipment. These upgrades are brought to life by four unpainted, finely detailed soft plastic Phase I Clone Trooper miniatures, including a Phase I Clone Captain, a Phase I Clone Specialist, a DP-23 Phase I Trooper, and an RPS-6 Phase I Trooper, all of which feature multiple customization options.

A Tutorial for Adding LED Lightsabers to Your Star Wars: Legion Miniatures

Not only does Star Wars™: Legion invite you to build a unique army of iconic troops, vehicles, and characters from across the Star Wars saga, it also gives you the opportunity to put your own personal touch on that army by painting and customizing your miniatures. For some, like Matthias Gruettke, this involves modifying the miniatures themselves, including the weapons they carry into battle.

Lightsabers are some of the most recognizable weapons in the entire Star Wars galaxy, wielded by noble Jedi and ambitious Sith lords alike. Rather than paint the lightsabers on his miniatures, Gruettke carefully replaces their blades with LEDs that reflect the soft glow of an ignited lightsaber. Join him today as he breaks down the process of bringing these iconic weapons to life in Star Wars: Legion!

A Jedi's Weapon

When I saw the first pictures of Star Wars: Legion miniatures, I immediately thought how hard it would be to paint the blade of the lightsaber. I mean, it's made of pure energy. How do you paint pure energy? There are some really talented painters who can do this for sure. But this illusion works mostly in dioramas where you look at the miniature from a certain angle. On the battlefield this is a totally different matter, because you and your opponent look at the miniatures from serveral perspectives.

That's why I have come up with another solution. Why not use light to power the blade of the most iconical weapon in the Star Wars galaxy?

In this article, I will show you how to use LEDs and acrylic rods to light up your Force users' weapons. It won't be the easiest work, but with some patience you will make it!

What You Need

Materials:

  • Star Wars: Legion Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader, Obi-Wan Kenobi, or General Grievous miniature
  • Star Wars: Legion base
  • Silver conductive paint
  • Super glue
  • 1x transparent acrylic rod in the color you are heading for the blade
  • 1x pre wired 0402 SMD LED in the color you are heading for the blade
  • 1x 56 ohm resistor (not needed if you use a blue or white LED)
  • 1x Neodymium sphere magnet Ø 3mm
  • 1x Neodymium block magnet 5 x 1.5 x 1mm
  • 1x Button cell battery CR2016 or CR2032

Tools:

  • Hand drill
  • Drill bits (Ø 0.5mm / 1.0mm /1.5mm / 3.0mm)
  • Hobby knife

1x Sheet fine sandpaper

Let's Get Started

Use the 3.0mm drill bit to drill a hole in the middle of the Legion base using the hand drill. Be careful not to drill in your hand or any surface you won't like to have holes inside. The hole doesn't have to be placed exactly in the middle, just somewhere around the center of the base.

Clean the drill hole edges with the hobby knife so no plastic is sticking out from the surface or the backside of the base.

Drill another hole near the outer edge of the base with the 1.5mm drill bit.

Now, put the 3mm neodymium sphere magnet in the hole in the middle and the 5 x 1.5 x 1mm neodymium block magnet in the smaller hole at the edge of the base. Ideally, the holes are so small that the magnets barely fit into them. If they are the proper size, you shouldn't have to use super glue to hold the magnets in place. If the holes are too big and the magnets won't hold up by themselves, use only a really tiny drop of super glue to hold them in place. It is absolutely important that the areas sticking out of the upper side of the base as well as the areas that aim towards the inside of the base are not covered with glue, because you need the bare metal surface of the magnets as contacts for the battery and the conductive paint.

If you use a red or green LED, you'll have to install a resistor, otherwise you risk burning your LED! To do so, expand the the smaller edge hole with the 0.5mm drill bit carefully and stick one end of the 56 ohm resistor into it. The wire piece of the resistor should be as close as possible to the magnet. Glue the resistor body part onto the base and cut the ends of the resistor wires with the hobby knife. The base should now look like this:

Painting wires

In the next step, glue the miniature on the base. The right foot should be placed next to the open wire end of the resistor. Now, use the silver conductive paint and apply it to the contacts between the magnet on the edge of the base and the resistor. Then, draw a line from the end of the resistor to the right foot of the miniature and up to the right leg. If you are working on Luke Skywalker, paint a wire up to the right arm hole. If you're working on Darth Vader, on the other hand, go up from the resistor end to the foot to the inner cloak to the underside of his belt.

Repeat the process on the other foot. This time, paint a wire line from the magnet in the middle of the base to the left foot and leg and then to the left arm hole on Luke Skywalker or above the belt for Darth Vader. WARNING: Do not cross the wires! The LED won't work if the two painted wire lines contact one another before they reach the LED contacts! So don't be hasty. Be one with the Force and paint the wires carefully. If you cross the wires, use the hobby knife to scratch a bit of paint off and separate the wires again.

Insert the Kyber Crystal

Now we come to the interesting part—installing the LED. Cut the blade from the hilt of the lightsaber of your miniature, but don't throw the blade away yet. Use the 0.5mm drill bit to drill a pilot hole inside the hilt. Be sure that the hole sits exactly in the middle of the hilt. Drill about 2-3mm deep inside the hilt. Then progressively widen the hole with the 1mm and then the 1.5mm drill bits. Dry fit the arcylic rod inside the hole. If the rods fits, you can go to the next step.

Change to the 0.5mm drill bit again and drill another hole on the backside of the hilt where the palm touches it. Try to drill towards the existing hilt hole to get a connection. After you break through, insert the pre-wired LED from above and shove the wire throught the hilt. Use the super glue to tack the red and black wires to the inner underside of the arm(s). Pay attention not to glue your fingers together or to the part of the miniature.

On Luke, lead the black wire along his left arm and the red one along his right arm. Wrap the wire ends around the pins that are used to connect the arms with Luke's body. Cut the wire and use the hobby knife to scratch off the red and black isolation layer of the cable until you see the metal of the wire. Try to scratch this layer off the wires that are wrapped around the pins.

On Vader you can already glue the arm to his body.

Ignite the saber

Apply a bit of the conductive paint on the pins of Luke's arms and let it dry for about 5 minutes. Then apply super glue on the edges of the arm holes on the miniature's body. Don't use much super glue, the holes should not be filled up with it! Then stick the arms on Lukes body. After the super glue has dried apply some more conductive paint around and inside the pits of the cut.

If you are doing Vader, just tack the black wire to the silver painted seam above the belt and the red one to the painted seam below the belt. Cut the wire and use the hobby knife to scratch off the red and black isolation layer from the cable until you see the metal of the wire. Do this on each wire until you have scratched off about 5mm of isolation. Then, use the silver conductive paint and go over the unisolated cable again. Be sure to paint over all of the super glue to get a nice connection.

Now, use the blade you cutt off the saber to measure the lenght of the acrylic rod you need. Add 2-3mm to the total length (that will go inside the hilt) and cut the acrylic rod. If you have some fine sandpaper available, use it to sand the upper cutting edge of your blade. You can use the hobby knife for this as well, but sandpaper would be better.

Now, stick the rod inside the hole in the hilt and apply the button cell battery. The 'rough' side of the cell battery (minus pole) must adhere to magnet in the middle of the base. If the blade lights up, well done! You are a true master of the Force!

Some Final Hints

  • Don't glue the acrylic saber blade to the miniature until your are done painting!
  • If you use an airbrush or a spray primer to prime your miniature, be sure to stick some adhesive tape on the hilt so that no paint will cover the LED.
  • If the LED won't work at the end don't worry. Check all connections between magnets, resistor, miniature, and LED wire. There should be a closed current circuit to light the LED. You can use another LED (if the button cell is applied to the miniature) or a multimeter and check point by point if the circuit is interrupted somewhere. If you find the disruptive area close the circuit with some (more) conductive paint

An updated version of the Rules Reference for Star Wars™: Legion is now available! Of particular note in this update are point value changes for a number of units, which should encourage the use of more diversified armies at competitive events. This Rules Reference will formally go into effect on September 12th. Today, Star Wars: Legion developer Alex Davy goes in depth about these changes and how they could shape the coming battles of the Galactic Civil War.

Greetings Legion players!

What a ride it’s been for Star Wars: Legion! One of the greatest pleasures of my career has been watching this game explode out of the gate and bearing witness to all of the passion and creativity the community has poured into it from the day it was announced. It’s also been fascinating to see the many different armies players brought to events, and observe the ones that have had the most success.

When it comes to balance, every new competitive game has its unintended peaks and unanticipated valleys. After a little over a year of tournament play, we’ve taken stock of the state of the game. Over the course of this study, we identified a few major trends, analyzed what is and isn’t working, and formulated a plan for some careful course corrections.

Before diving into specifics, I’d like to outline our overall philosophy. First and foremost, it’s important to acknowledge that Legion is a hobby game, and players put hard work and passion into their armies. We want to ensure that players continue to feel that the time and effort they put into building and painting their forces is a valuable investment. With this in mind, we plan to keep these changes minimal, infrequent, and carefully targeted. To that end, we will be issuing points adjustments approximately once a year, prioritizing point decreases over increases and we feel that keeping errata to the bare minimum is necessary for the health of the game. It is our hope that this will allow players to field a much wider variety of units in a competitive setting and give them renewed interest in the lesser-used miniatures in their collections.

The vast majority of our adjustments are aimed at improving under-utilized units so that they can compete at the same level as many of the army-building staples players reach for time and time again. Vehicles, particularly from early waves, are seldom taken in competitive lists, and this update delivers large discounts to both vehicles and some of their key upgrade cards. A plethora of other updates are targeted at things like increasing the diversity of commanders that see play, deepening the pool of useful upgrade cards, and steering players toward lists that don’t rely as heavily on a full compliment of Corps units. As a rule, these changes will impact players collections in a purely positive way, allowing for much more diversity in army creation.

That said, it is sometimes necessary to take a sober look at the effect a unit is having on the game and take action accordingly. Rebel Commando and Scout Trooper Strike Teams equipped with sniper rifles are just such a unit, dominating competitive play and pushing a lot of fun Special Forces-rank units aside. Almost every top-level competitive list includes at least two sniper-equipped Strike Teams, and their utility in both list building and on the tabletop is undeniable.

Through extensive playtesting and analysis, it became clear that Strike Team snipers would need more than a simple points increase. Reliable, defense-penetrating attacks from infinite range, combined with the ability to protect the squad from nearly all danger through careful placement, make them a frustrating unit to face, and ensure that there is little opportunity for counter play. These tests, combined with the development of new content for future waves and the need for more granularity, led to a novel solution: the introduction of a new range band, range 5.

This range band will be retroactively applied to three units: The DLT-19x Sniper (Scout Troopers Unit Expansion), the DH-447 Sniper (Rebel Commandos Unit Expansion), and the 1.4 FD Laser Cannon Team (1.4 FD Laser Cannon Team Unit Expansion). In the case of the snipers, this greatly-reduced range band, in tandem with a slight points increase to the tremendously effective Strike Team units, brings these units down to a proper power level. In the case of the Laser Cannon Team, Range 5 allows this stationary unit much more board presence and utility, making it much harder for its opponents to simply avoid.

Moving forward, this addition to the game provides the Legion developers access to a new range band that, while powerful, still requires units to get closer to danger, opening up much more counter-play. Infinite range will also remain an option but can be reserved for particularly special weapons.

Finally, a brief note on the implementation of these changes: The printed points values on the cards will remain unchanged and will not be altered when these cards are reprinted or issued in future products. These original points values are designed to be used by new players and by casual players who prefer an unchanging game mode that they don’t have to keep track of. Official tournaments will be conducted utilizing the adjusted competitive play points values. Errata (such as changes to weapon ranges) applies to both modes of play, since in many cases errata is necessary for the rules to function correctly.

At this time, we do not intend to create an app to track and manage these changes, as it is our hope that they will be kept to a very manageable in number and frequency.

More than just a terrain piece or objectives, the unpainted, hard plastic crashed escape pod miniature and hard plastic R2-D2 and C-3PO miniatures you’ll find in this expansion are an invitation to join two of the Star Wars saga’s most iconic droids on their adventures across the galaxy. These miniatures can play a central role in two distinct scenarios outlined by six new battle cards. Alternatively, four unit cards give you the chance to add both R2-D2 and C-3PO to your Rebel or Republic armies.

The Droids You're Looking For

Escape pods are a standard feature on warships across the galaxy and when opposing troops abandon ship, it’s not uncommon for a battle to spill over to a planet’s surface. Whether your troops are investigating the wreckage or using it for cover, the escape pod miniature is this expansion is sure to enhance any battlefield, adding even more thematic flair to your Star Wars: Legion battles.

But escape pods can carry more than just ground troops. They’re also a good way to get sensitive information off a ship before it falls into the wrong hands. During these occasions, both sides are likely to do whatever they can to recover this data, including deploying troops to the crash site. As a result, the Crashed Escape Pod Battlefield Expansion also contains six battle cards that make the escape pod the focal point of two different scenarios.

In the first scenario, the escape pod makes a crash-landing on a planet’s surface at the end of Round 1, and the droids it carries become the prime objective of both armies. In the second, two droids carrying vital intel find themselves hopelessly lost in the unforgiving wilderness and both sides start a desperate search. Whoever finds and extracts the droids could well turn the tide of the war.

No matter which scenario you choose to play, the C-3PO and R2-D2 miniatures included in this Battlefield Expansion make a perfect alternative to the objective tokens found in both the Star Wars: Legion Core Set and the Clone Wars Core Set. This may help bring these iconic droids to life as objectives on your battlefields, but it is far from their only use.

C-3PO and R2-D2 formed an unbreakable bond that carried them through the Clone Wars and the Galactic Civil War, and this Battlefield Expansion allows you to help them carry out their secret missions as part of the Galactic Republic or the Rebel Alliance. Les sorties clone wars sont annoncées pour le 18 octobre par un youtubeur assez bien informé. 

L'information ressort d'un FFG Live (à 3min 20).

Il me semble comprendre qu'ils ne parlent que d'une sortie "nationale" (i.e. US) et ils insistent un peu trop fortement sur le "soon".

La sortie a bien eu lieu a peu près le 18/10/2019.

Le starter Guerre des Clones a été disponible et est en rupture (comme quoi les défauts de prévision de production adaptée aux ventes...).

Greetings, Star Wars: Legion players!

I’m pleased to announce an official new format for Star Wars: Legion—Skirmish games! 

Skirmish games are played over the course of five rounds on a three-foot by three-foot battlefield, utilizing a new deck of twelve battle cards optimized for small-format play. This is the Star Wars: Legion experience stripped down to its very essence, a framework without an ounce of fat on it. Even so, it requires just as much tactical acumen, careful planning, and risk-taking as a standard game of Star Wars: Legion. I believe that players will have plenty to discover with the depth of this format!

The Skirmish format also offers new strategies and new opportunities for creative army building. Force-wielding heroes and villains are mightier than ever, but gobble up an even bigger percentage of your overall army size. Deadly short-range units like Fleet Troopers and Scout Troopers can come to grips with their foes more quickly, and heavy vehicles like the AT-ST and the AAT Trade Federation Battle Tank can impact the game in a major way from the start of the very first round. In short, it’s a whole new wargame to explore!

Ultimately, it is my hope that this format offers a great option for new players, veterans who want a new way to play, stores that want to run events but have limited space available, and anybody and everybody whose busy lives leave them with limited time in which to roll dice.

Mais la faction n'existe même pas à légion (figurine de la nostalogie).

 

Si encore la faction était dans le jeu je pourrai comprendre mais la, sauf si tu te crée une faction perso cela ne servira pas en jeu (en décor peu être mais la n'est pas le sujet).

Defining the Battlefield

Your Star Wars: Legion battles rage on planets across the galaxy, and while your mission parameters may be clear, there’s no telling what you’ll find once your boots hit the ground. The sixteen objective miniatures you find in this expansion—including two hostages, six bombs, six crates, and two repulsor pallets—can help you create an immersive and thematic battlefiled. Among the new options, you'll embark on a delicate Hostage Exchange that tasks you with securing a VIP and transporting them back to your deployment zone. Such exchanges often take place with both sides behind Fortified Positions,  of course, and the barricades this condition card calls for can create plenty of cover for your troops to cover a retreating hostage.

Alternatively, the battlefield could also be littered with useful tools from a Supply Drop.  This condition card introduces a new deck of sixteen supply cards that your units can draw from throughout the battle. Each of these cards provides your unit with a valuable piece of equipment that can support your operations in the field. With some Bacta Capsules,  for example, a non-droid trooper unit can stay operational a little while longer. Similarly, a Field Scanner gives a unit the tactical data they need to take cover at a crucial moment.

Spy, Saboteur, Assassin

Cassian Andor has dedicated his life to the Rebellion and his resolute belief in its cause makes him willing to do whatever it takes to complete his mission. As one of the Alliance’s most capable intelligence agents, Andor is well-versed in infiltration and intelligence-gathering techniques, but he can still take a quick  Crack Shot at an enemy whether he’s carrying a covert blaster or a sniper rifle. At the same time, Andor's leadership abilities cannot be denied, and he can just as easily lead an entire army of Rebels into battle regardless of how hopeless their task may seem.

While the nature of Andor’s missions can make it difficult to operate alongside large groups of his fellow Rebels, a reprogrammed KX-series security droid like K-2SO has no such issues. Able to seamlessly blend in with Imperial forces until he's ready to unleash his massive strength and quick reflexes on his foes, K-2 can help Andor in any situation.

Within the Cassian Andor and K-2SO Commander Expansion, you’ll find beautifully detailed, unpainted, hard plastic Cassian Andor and K-2SO miniatures that feature a wealth of customization options. Cassian Andor, for example, can be assembled with three different weapon options, including his compact blaster or his A-280-CFE in its pistol configuration. K-2SO, meanwhile, can be assembled carrying Jyn Erso’s SE-14 blaster, a grenade, or with his hands free.

Servant of the Empire

They may be taking the fight to the Rebellion in space or on the ground, but in any arena, Inferno Squad is one of the Empire’s most elite special forces units. As the leader of this crack team, Iden Versio has the experience necessary to lead any Imperial attack group into battle. But Versio’s training at the Imperial Academy on Coruscant has also made her an invaluable asset who can strike out on her own to complete whatever directives the Empire gives her.

Whichever way Versio is deployed, she enters battle supported by the latest Imperial technology. With a quick Pulse Scan,  her ID10 seeker droid can identify multiple targets and enhance her already keen aim. While its range may be limited, this seeker droid can also make attacks of its own, sometimes even incapacitating an entire enemy unit.

The Iden Versio and ID10 Commander Expansion contains beautifully sculpted, unpainted hard plastic Iden Versio and ID10 seeker droid miniatures that can be instantly integrated into your Imperial armies. As you do, the Iden Versio miniature can be customized with an assortment of head and weapon options to fit your personal taste. This miniature can be assembled with or without the Inferno Squad helmet and can can also appear with three distinct weapons, including the standard issue E-11 blaster rifle or Versio’s personal TL-50 repeater.

Rounding out this expansion are four new command cards—three for Iden Versio and one for her ID10 seeker droid—along with unit cards for both Versio and ID10. Finally, nine upgrade cards invite you to customize their loadouts with more weapons, comms, and more.

Toujours pas de TB-TT ?

 

Leur set de peinture me fait me demander si ils veulent éviter les même erreurs en clone wars qu'avec la version de base. Mais avec le concept de la boite qui contient les règles qui fait gonfler artificiellement le coût de chaque doublon, c'est pas gagné.

Bonjour à tous

Après avoir fait une partie d'Assaut sur l'Empire et avoir été conquis par le jeu, nous allons nous lancer dans SWL.

Beaucoup de choses sont sorties et le produit est franchement onéreux, ce qui incite à ne monter qu'une faction. Nous allons donc nous partager un starter et investir à coté.

 

N'ayant pas encore trouvé de comparaison entre les deux types d'armées, leurs caractéristiques et leur gameplay, j'aurais aimé avoir un avis rapide sur le sujet.

En quoi Rebelles et Impériaux sont ils différents? J'ai plus d'affinitié avec l'Empire qu'avec les  Rebelles niais que l'on voit à l'écran (sauf Rogue One) mais je vais surtout m'orienter en fonction du mode de jeu  que la faction proposera et de l'allure des figurines.

 

Y a-t-il des produits annexes "indispensables" dans lesquels il est bon d'investir?

Pour les factions il y en a 4 maintenant (personnellement je joue la Confédération des Systèmes Indépendant = les droïdes), les figurines les plus récente sont de bonne qualité (en particulier les droïdes qui sont en grappes) mais les plus anciennes sont "particulières". (pas terrible car ce sont les débuts de la gamme)  

 

Pour l'empire (comme les clones) tu a une armée qui encaisse bien et tir pas trop mal.

Les clones tir mieux mais sont moins nombreux, une vrai armée d'élite.

 

Les rebelles sont fragile et ce mettent donc souvent a couvert sous peine de mourir mais tir bien (les droïdes de combat B1 tir mal en plus de ne pas encaisser les dégâts).

Je ne connais pas beaucoup plus de chose car je n'ai que 3 parties a mon actif mais il y a des variantes importantes en empire et rebelle si "l'univers de dysney" ne te pose pas de problème.
