-rougue trader

-commander

-arena.

Tu me diras on va pouvoir jouer de l'élite.

Pre-order Preview: Elite Kill Teams and Funko POP! Vinyls

KTElitePreview-May5-Share1dtgais.jpg

If you thought your hard-bitten kill teams of covert operatives were elite specialists within their field, you’d be right. However, if you think they’re the best of the best, think again! Get ready to take your game to the next level with Kill Team: Elites.

This hotly-anticipated expansion brings some of the heaviest hitters in the Warhammer 40,000 universe to the skirmish battlefield, from Chaos Terminators and snazzgun-toting Flash Gitz to the towering Wraithguard of the Aeldari and the legendary warriors of the Custodian Guard! And if that wasn’t exciting enough already, there are also powerful new Commanders – including a nigh-unkillable Lord of Contagion and T’au Commander in VX85 Enforcer Battlesuit – as well as some legendary operatives in the form of Boss Snikrot, Illic Nightspear and Sly Marbo!

Oh, and did we mention all the awesome new sub-faction rules such as Chapter Tactics, Drukhari Obsessions and Cult Creeds?

If you’re looking to jump right into this new expansion, there are three new Kill Team sets, each boasting a famed – and highly elite – kill team, with their own background, skills and equipment (though you can also build them as you see fit to make your own kill team). These first three Elite kill teams are the Flash Gitz of Toofrippa’s Krew, the Death Guard Terminators of the Dolorous Strain, and the Thousand Sons Scarab Occult Terminators known as the Fractal Blades.

Kill Team: Elites – The Contents

GAMAReveals-Mar11-KTElitesHeader3yxcd.jp

Your kill teams are about to get a whole lot more elite, as this weekend sees the aptly named Kill Team: Elites expansion up for pre-order. In the first of this week’s focuses on the new expansion, we’re treating you to a look at the full contents so you can start planning your new additions straight away!

Yes, that’s right – you will soon be able to field none other than Sly Marbo himself in your games of Kill Team (though we pity your opponent when you do)!*

You’ll also notice a long list of new Commander options (some even wearing Terminator armour!), as well as powerful kill team operatives such as Aeldari Aspect Warriors and the Electro-Priests of the Adeptus Mechanicus. And, of course, there’s also a brand-new Faction in the form of the mighty Adeptus Custodes. How awesome (and utterly terrifying) is that?!

In addition to new open, narrative and matched play missions, there are also new rules for Sub-factions, enabling your kill teams to fight even more like their Warhammer 40,000 counterparts with Chapter Tactics, Legion Traits, Clan Kulturs and more besides.

We’ll have much more on what Kill Team: Elites has to offer for your Imperium, Chaos and xenos forces over the coming days, so be sure to check back regularly for your daily dose of Kill Team goodness! Until tomorrow, let us know what new fighters and Commanders you’re looking forward to adding to your kill teams on our Warhammer 40,000 Facebook page.

* We’ve heard rumours that Sly Marbo has actually completed the game!

Kill Team: Elites – Xenos Factions

GAMAReveals-Mar11-KTElitesHeader3yxcd.jp

An exciting new expansion – Kill Team: Elites – is up for pre-order this weekend, and introduces the very best that the galaxy has to offer for your favourite skirmish battles. This week, we’re taking a closer look at what Elites brings to the various Factions in the game, starting with the xenos kill teams. Let’s take a closer look, Faction by Faction…

Asuryani

Asuryani kill teams will be able to choose from a number of Craftworld Attributes, adding a thematic new ability to your arsenal. If you’re a fan of keeping your opponent(s) at a distance, choosing the Alaitoc attribute will give you a distinct advantage (especially when combined with the Cameleoline Cloak ability of your Rangers).

The Aledari of Iyanden will benefit from a tenacious resolve that will ensure they stay in the fight in all but the most extreme circumstances.

If you’re looking to add some real staying (and hitting) power to your kill team, you’ll be able to add some Wraithguard and Wraithblades – with a Toughness of 6 and 3 Wounds each, they certainly won’t go down easily! Powerful new melee options will also be introduced in the form of two types of Aspect Warriors – Howling Banshees and Striking Scorpions. Their formidable combat prowess will serve as excellent counters to enemy specialists and Commanders.

The Asuryani will be also able lead their kill teams with two new Commanders. First up is a Spiritseer, who will not only add some psychic might to your kill team, but can bolster nearby Wraithguard or Wraithblades with the Spirit Mark aura ability.

Alaitoc kill teams can instead field the legendary Ranger, Illic Nightspear. In addition to his utterly devastating rifle, Voidbringer, Nightspear will also be able to swiftly relocate by Advancing, then utilise his unique Tactic to fire at full effectiveness.

Illic Nightspear is automatically a Level 3 specialist from the new Legendary Hunter specialism, which offers him a number of powerful new abilities.

Drukhari

As with their Craftworld cousins, the Drukhari can utilise a selection of obsessions from one of their Kabals, Wych Cults or Haemonculus Covens (though only models with matching keywords will gain the ability). For example, fans of powerful short-ranged weapons such as blasters, blast pistols and shredders may want to choose the Kabal of the Obsidian Rose to ensure maximum accuracy.

Alternatively, if you’re looking for an armour-busting advantage, the Coven of Twelve will give you the (cutting) edge you need.

The introduction of the Haemonculus Covens sees the arrival of both Wracks and Grotesques to the Drukhari kill team rosters, each offering 5+ invulnerable saves and a minimum of 3 Attacks apiece. They are reinforced by the armour-cleaving Incubii and Mandrakes. The shadowy allies of the Drukhari in particular have been highly anticipated additions to the game, and their Shrouded from Sight ability will give them a huge advantage in Kill Team.

Harlequins

Harlequins kill teams will be able to specialise in a number of Masque Forms. If you want to make the most of your kill team’s (frankly horrific) melee skills, allegiance to the Frozen Stars will offer a handy extra Attack in the first round of combat.

If you favour speed and manoeuvrability (skills for which the Harlequins have some renown, it’s fair to say), try the Soaring Spite to make the most of your firepower while on the move.

Necrons

The Dynastic codes of the Necrons offer you a selection of powerful abilities to take advantage of. If you prefer to slay (or flay) your prey in combat, the Novokh code will ensure a reliable number of hits on entering combat.

You can instead mitigate the limited speed of your Necrons via the Translocation Beams of the Nephrekh Dynasty, offering you total freedom of movement when you Advance.

Your Necron kill teams will soon be able to include the mighty Lychguard and Triarch Praetorians. With their ability to carry dispersion shields for a 4+ invulnerable save, Lychguard can take on even the most formidable adversaries or simply split them asunder with murderous blows from their warscythes.

Triarch Praetorians offer a powerful combination of deadly weaponry at close range and melee, and unrivalled manoeuvrability by virtue of their ability to fly. There’s just no escaping these guys!

Orks

Clan Kulturs bring the influences of the great clans to your Orks kill teams. As one would expect, allegiance to the most aggressive of the clans offers the potential for bonus attacks in combat.

Meanwhile, the Bad Moons kultur will help your kill team to be shootier than all the others.

Orks will have access to three new datasheets in the form of the Nob, Meganob and Flash Git. Not only are these Orks more heavily armoured than the other greenskins (especially in the case of the 2+ Save characteristic of the Meganobs), but you’ll be able to field a wide selection of brutal weaponry such as power klaws and kombi-weapons – and in the case of the Flash Gitz, snazzguns.

Boss Snikrot also makes his debut in Kill Team as a unique Commander. As with Illic Nightspear, Snikrot is a Level 3 Legendary Hunter specialist, but he can also give nearby Kommandos a handy boost with his bespoke Aura Tactic.

T’au Empire

Kill teams hailing from the T’au Empire will be able to choose a Sept Tenet to represent their favoured method of war. For example, the accuracy of Overwatch fire from the T’au Sept is set to be nothing short of terrifying.

If devastating close-range firepower (such as that offered by the pulse blasters of Fire Warrior Breachers) is more your thing, you may find the Farsight Enclaves more to your choosing.

Kill Team: Elites sees the very best of the Fire caste unleashed in all their glory with the arrival of the XV8 Crisis Battlesuit. Not only does their ability to fly make even one such warrior a mobile threat, but the sheer diversity of ranged weaponry and support systems (such as the plasma rifle and target lock) makes each one an intimidating prospect to face. Kroot Carnivores also offer T’au kill teams an efficient melee option to help keep the pressure off your more vulnerable, ranged fighters.

If you really want to show the superiority of the Greater Good, you will be able to field a Commander in XV85 Enforcer Battlesuit, combining incredibly flexible equipment and weapons options with the ability to fly, not to mention one of the most powerful profiles in the game!

The legendary Pathfinder known as Darkstrider will also be able to lead your T’au Empire forces. He brings with him two unique Aura Tactics that enable you to play some suitably sneaky tricks on your opponent, such as with Structural Analyser.

Tyranids

Hive Fleets are renowned for the different ways they have adapted, and soon, your kill teams will reap the reward! The Hyper-aggression of Hive Fleet Behemoth offers a simple but incredibly effective ability for your kill team to stay on the front foot (or claw).

If you favour a more subtle approach, then Hive Fleet Jormungandr will ensure your critters remain intact until the moment to strike is at hand (or claw).

Speaking of your critters, you will be able to include Tyrant Guard – perfect options from protecting your Commander of choice – Hive Guard (along with their devastating impaler cannons, below) and super-swift Raveners among their number if you prefer to be more hands-(or claws-)on with your enemies as quickly as possible.

If you like Lictors, then you’ll love the introducing Deathleaper to your games of Kill Team. Having any problems dealing with enemy Commanders? Don’t worry – Deathleaper will see you right (and them very dead)!

Genestealer Cults

Cult Creeds will give your alien hybrids a handy boost in a number of different areas. The Twisted Helix, for example, is a great option for melee-focussed kill teams.

The Bladed of Cog Cult Creed offers a different pair of advantages, including a useful invulnerable save.

The huge wave of Genestealer Cultists characters that surfaced earlier this year will offer an enormous variety when it comes to your choice of Commanders, including the Sanctus, gunslinging Kelemorph, Nexos, Biophagus, Locus and Clamavus. Each of these new Commanders comes with their own Tactic (such as the Genomic Enhancement of the Biophagus, below) or Aura Tactic to use, further adding to their impact on your kill team.

Whatever species of xenos you favour, you’re definitely in for a treat! Check back with us tomorrow, where we’ll be revealing some more on what Elites has to offer for the Chaos-aligned kill teams as well as some information on the new Reserves rules for the game.

Au tour des chaotiques !

Kill Team: Elites – Chaos Factions

GAMAReveals-Mar11-KTElitesHeader3yxcd.jp

Today, we’re continuing this week’s coverage of Kill Team: Elites with a more detailed look at the new Chaos fighters and Commanders that will soon be joining the fray, as well as a look at the new rules for using Reserves in your games. First up, it’s the newly arriving champions of the Dark Gods…

Heretic Astartes

The new Legion Traits are set to add a powerful, narrative edge to your Heretic Astartes kill teams. For example, the quicksilver reflexes of the Emperor’s Children ensures that they always fight in the Hammer of Wrath section of the Fight phase.

KTElitesChaos-May8-FlawlessPerfection3jc

The murderous ways of the Night Lords, on the other hand, can all but cripple the morale of enemy fighters once their kill team is broken, giving the Sons of Curze a significant advantage in the end game.

KTElitesChaos-May8-TerrorTactics4gs.jpg

To further the glory of the Dark Gods, formidable Heretic Astartes reinforcements will also be available in the form of Khorne Berzerkers, Possessed and Terminators. With their Strength 5 and the ability to pile in and attack twice in the Fight phase, Khorne Berzerkers will be excellent choices for culling enemy numbers.

KTElitesChaos-May8-BloodForBloodGod5jv.j

If you’re after some added resilience in addition to fearsome melee skill, Possessed offer an additional Wound and a 5+ invulnerable save, while Terminators are, well… Terminators, meaning a 2+ Save and access to a huge selection of ranged and melee weapons, including the fearsome reaper autocannon.

On that note, you’ll also be able to field either a Chaos Lord or Sorcerer clad in Terminator armour, or one of a host of other powerful Commanders – namely a Greater Possessed (a brutal close-range killer), a Master of Executions (a great hunter of enemy specialists and Commanders), a Dark Apostle (with the option to include their Dark Disciples), and a Master of Possession (complete with their bespoke Malefic psychic discipline).

Death Guard

Unlike the other Traitor Legions, the Death Guard don’t have a choice of Legion Trait, but the Inexorable Advance ability they all gain is amazing!

KTElitesChaos-May8-InorexableAdvance6wc.

The Death Guard reinforcements in Kill Team: Elites are among the hardiest in the game. Blightlord and Deathshroud Terminators are each able to take on many times their own number without a scratch, and you’ll soon be able to lead them with a mighty Lord of Contagion, whose Vector of Contagion Tactic is a potential game-winner in the right circumstances.

KTElitesChaos-May8-VectorContagion7yjcs.

Thousand Sons

Kill teams from the Thousand Sons all gain the Brotherhood of Sorcerers ability, ensuring that you can make the most of your Psykers.

KTElitesChaos-May8-BrotherhoodSorcerors9

Speaking of Psykers, the introduction of Scarab Occult Terminators comes with the opportunity to field a Scarab Occult Sorcerer, not to mention a devastating array of wargear, including a heavy warpflamer and hellfyre missile racks.

Missions and Reserves

In addition to the huge selection of new fighters and Commanders, Kill Team: Elites includes a number of new open, narrative and matched play missions, all of which enable you to field kill teams of up to 200 points in size to cater for your powerful new operatives.

KTElitesChaos-May8-EscapeFacility11sm.jp

Kill Team: Elites also introduces new rules for setting up models off the battlefield in Reserve, enabling you to bring them on later in the battle. Models in Reserve can either move onto the battlefield into their deployment zone, or make use of a new universal Tactic that enables them to outflank.

KTElitesChaos-May8-Outflank9id.jpg

Many Factions also have access to new Tactics that interact with the Reserves rules, such as the Teleport Strike of the Heretic Astartes that enables Terminators to strike directly into the heart of battle.

KTElitesChaos-May8-TeleportStrike10td.jp

Your Chaos kill teams are set to be bigger, more heavily armoured and deadlier than ever! Tune in tomorrow for more from Kill Team: Elites, where we’ll be taking a closer look at the new additions for Imperium kill teams, including a brand-new Faction – the legendary Adeptus Custodes!

Kill Team – A New Starter Set!

When we released the original Warhammer 40,000: Kill Team Starter Set, it proved to be incredibly popular. After all, not only is the game great, but the box had loads of miniatures (two kill teams, no less!), terrain and a gameboard. That being the case, we thought we’d make another one to help new players to get started, but with two different kill teams and terrain. It’s not only a great way to get into the game, but it’s perfect for splitting with one of your friends!

If you’re already a fan of Warhammer 40,000: Kill Team, fear not – we think the rules are awesome, so haven’t changed a thing! The new box features a kill team of Space Marine Reivers (the Fangs of Ulfrich) pitted against the Fire Warriors of the T’au Empire (Advance Team Starpulse) across the amazing Sector Mechanicus terrain

Ferocity and formidable combat skill faces off against deadly ranged weaponry and coordinated fire support – it certainly makes for an exciting dynamic!
