Future releases for Warhammer Ancient Battles include the following.2004 Beyond the Golden Gate, Byzantium Armies and Enemies. Divine Wind, Armies and Enemies of Japan and the Samurai. 2005 The Crusades. Hundred Years War. Ottoman Empire. China. Other Warhammer Historical releases during the next year or so include rules for the Wild West, Napoleonics and Twentieth Century warfare. Full details will be made available on our web site as we have them.
Lyondri
Des infos bien fraîches sur le supplément byzantin ("Beyond the Golden Gate") : BTGG will be released ´some time this summer´. I am afraid I can´tgive a real date, but we are still sorting out the last details. The text is done and has been for a while now - but we/I need to paint the last figures for the colour section. As the supplement includes 9 lists and 35+ list variants we need to do *a lot* of figures. If you are looking to do 10th c. Byzantines you should have plenty of choices in the new Gripping Beast range. I received a mail from Darren last night and they have begun work on the cavalry and lightly armoured infantry. Sounds promising.... Justin, BTGG will have proper Sassanids, but categorising them as a true cataphract army wouldn´t be fair on the mighty fire worshippers. They are far more shooty than steamrollery (?!) - if you want real cataphracts you should probably wait for a real Parthian list to be released. Heine > Hi there Heine, it was me (Olaf) with the new Byzantine Horde.> Anyway- it's good to hear that it will be out soon (I can't wait). Can > you give us a hint of what armies will be in there? ----> Sure. The supplement basically covers Byzantine armies and their main adversaries from Justinian (527 AD) to the first fall of Constantinople during the fourth Crusade (1204 AD). There are three Byzantine lists in the supplement and six adversaries lists (with very few exceptions all the adversaries of Byzantium are covered). Adversary lists include Germanic Kingdoms (such as the Italian Goths and Vandals), Sassanians, early Muslim Caliphate armies and Rus. Apart from the lists there is a scenario section, describing battles such as Dara (530), Yarmouk (636) and Dorostolon (971). Plus an optional rules section to spice up the old pitched battle scenario and background stuff on Byzantine armament, tactics, deployment, etc. As the period covered in the supplement was very much an age of cavalry warfare, the main issue has been to produce non-knightly cavalry that is actually worth fielding. The solution has been to add a little to both their punch and their maneuvrability. > Can I also add the Crusader stuff to the recommended list? > I have most of the GB stuff, and also all the currently released > Crusader ones... ----> Crusaders, or Frankish knights, were allies of the Komnenian Byzantines, so you will have the opportunity to field knightly cavalry (ca. 1081-1176). Apart from that a Crusader supplement *is* in the making. Heine Ca tombe bien, j'ai pu récupérer un petit paquet des nouveaux byzantins de Gripping Beast (http://www.grippingbeast.com) et ils sont vraiment très bien. De la bonne figurine !
