On continue avec les piquiers :

Today we received test shots of the Macedonian Pikemen and Successor Pikemen.

Please note that these are test shots and the small sink holes and ragged shields are being corrected in the tool room as we speak. The shields were too thin hence why they are not "filling" correctly.

The small mods should be completed by Friday and we will then go to production the same day with a target of starting to ship early next week.

I plan to put them up on sale over the weekend once I have images of the comprehensive range of shield transfers that Steve at LBMS has produced to support the range.

I have posted images of the 4 troop types you can achieve from these 2 sets but please note there are many more head and crest options than those I have displayed. Therefore you will be able to build great variety into your pike blocks.

Finally we will be packing 27 figures (24 pikemen and 3 command)into these two sets so that those gamers who wish to build 48 men pike blocks will have enough pikemen.

The aforementioned Hypaspists set will contain 24 figures including the command.

Just a quick announcement before the weekend. The 3 Macedonian sets plus 11 sets of shield transfers are available from our online shop. Steve is finishing off a few more transfer sheets over the weekend and once these are available I will make a proper announcement about the Macedonians being on sale through the normal social media outlets, website and newsletters.

In the meantime I am delighted to show you the latest work from our sculpting division with the next batch of Early Imperial Romans. We will now start the sculpting of the command frame.

At long last sprue shots of all the Macedonian frames. I have also provided complete images of all 16 shield transfer sheets for these codes. Each transfer sheet has 24 shield transfers plus a standard transfer, so quite a few more transfers than our other ancient sheets.

As a small distraction from the great Brexit debate please find the first renders of the Early Imperial Roman command frame. This first figure is the Roman Aquilifa (Eagle bearer), There will also be a vexilum option as well as a Centurion and musician.

I have also posted the artwork of the Spanish cavalry (out in about 3 weeks) and the Numidian cavalry.

Despite this commitment Victrix work continues with my son, Theo, looking after all mail order whilst I am away. The sculpting, tooling etc continues unabated and evidence of this arrived today at Victrix HQ of the Numidian Horse test shots. I will post images of these hopefully later today and we will put them on pre order over the weekend.

On continue avec du très très lourd !

Another hurried post as I head around the country. Attached is the other version of the Signifer. He is wearing the Praetorian Lion skin. At present he carries a Standard legionary Signum (Cohort Standard) but this is just a place holder until the Praetorian standard is ready in a few days.

I am also showing images of the Numidian Horse which I plan to put on pre order later this week.

Currently in Perth, Scotland as our "Flyinf for Freedom" injured pilots head up to John O'Groats. Therefore the ground team has time on it's hands.

Therefore, please see the posted images of the header card artwork and the 3 sets of shield transfers for the Numidian cavalry. Steve has done a nice job with the giraffe skin background on the header card.

The Spanish cavalry are currently being tooled (6-8 weeks to completion) whilst the Numidian infantry are being laid up and the split lines determined so they are ready to go to the tool room.

The Early Imperial Romans are coming to the end of the sculpting stage with only the Centurion and Musician to be finished.

That begs the question, what do Victrix start next ?

Je comprend pas trop les choix fait des fois quand même.............. ça aurait pas valu le coup de les sortir AVANT les légionnaires impériaux..... histoire de rester dans une thématique guerres puniques/république romaine avant de passer à une nouvelle période.

 

M'enfin, mieux vaut tard que jamais!

We are really pleased to announce the release of the 28mm hard plastic Numidian cavalry. This is a 12 miniature set packed with pose options and fantastic detail.

The Numidians were from North Africa, around modern day Tunisia and Morocco. They were superb light cavalry and supplied large quantities of horsemen to their close neighbours the Carthaginians.

Numidian cavalry excelled in skirmishing, hit and run tactics. They would shower their enemy with javelin fire and run away to avoid contact and then wheel around again to pelt the enemy with yet more missiles. They were often used as scouts and in pitched battles would outflank the enemy and wait in ambush.

They fought brilliantly for Hannibal during the second Punic wars, being major factors in his defeats of the Romans at the Trebia, Lake Trasimene and Cannae and they were also responsible for beating the Romans in Spain at the battles of Castulo and Ilorici under their charismatic and brilliant chieftan Masinissa.

At the final Roman battle against Hannibal at Zama, some Numidians under Masanissa changed sides and fought for the Romans defeating their fellow Numidians under the leadership of the aged King Syphax. The Numidians helped swing the tide of battle to the Romans favour.

Numidian cavalry fought as auxiliaries for Rome for many hundreds of years, they fought for Caesar and can be seen in evidence on Trajans column looking very much the same as they did during the punic wars.

Our Numidian infantry will be going to tooling soon. These will be light skirmishers with the option of making them close order infantry with the addition of oval shields and helmets. With plans for African Elephants for the Carthaginians you will be able to field a Numidian force totally in plastic quite soon.

With the addition of the Spanish cavalry in a few weeks you will be able to muster full Spanish and Carthaginian armies in plastic.

Par contre ils font QUE des légionnaires et assimilés chez Victrix ?

Depuis la création de ce topic j'ai l'impression de n'avoir vu que des gars en jupettes :D

Ils font un peu napoléonnien, des navions et apparement, ils vont s'atteler à faire du WW2. Le seul regret, c'est qu'ils aient abandonné leur green de la WW1.

 

 

Par contre ils font QUE des légionnaires et assimilés chez Victrix ?

L'antiquité, c'est leur space marine ^^.

C'est triste qu'aucune boite ne semble bien décider à faire des "vikigns" ou des "celtes" ou des "pictes" en plastique :(

Encore que avec les connaissances historiques actuelles des celtes seraient surement assez proches des romains, au final. Il est loin le temps des barbus torse-nus couverts de peintures de guerre :(

Si c'est du celtes gaulois de la Guerre des Gaules, oui, c'est pas totalement faux puisque les gaulois étaient déjà bien acculturés.... et que les romains leur ont repiqué par mal de trucs niveau armement (casques à paragnathides en fer, grand bouclier ovale, même si pas tout à fait pareil, épées plus longues pour la cavalerie...Etc). Si c'est du Celte de la Tène ancienne, du celte insulaire genre irlandais/bretons, là par contre, on voit quand même de sacrées différences: dans l'art et l'ornementation (certes pas évident à restituer sur les fig surtout vu la complexité des motifs), mais aussi dans l'armement (formes, types....Etc). Et au niveau du vêtements, de la parure et de la coiffure, on est quand même dans un registre différent que le romain (torques, saillons, braies.....).

Pour du viking historique, si les "vieilles" marques genre Foundry, gripping beast et autre ont tendance à sortir de la carricature de gros barbus tous en cottes de maille et casques à nasal, d'autres petites marques ont sortis des vikings vraiment pas mal au niveau des dernières représentations que l'on a de cette culture (avec les influences slaves et orientales pour les vikings de l'est (qu'on appelait varègues).

Mais c'est en effet pas du plastique..... les hirdmen de Gripping beast sont pas mal, mais un peu tous pareils et assez fades à mon goût.

 

Mais on est d'accord que ces cultures oh combien carricaturées dans tous les domaines (littérature, cinéma, télé (oui, oui c'est à toi que je pense infâme série "vikings") n'ont pas non plus bénéficié d'une super mise en figurines.........

Il est mentionné "gauls", et non "celts". S'il fallait l'interpréter, comme cela sans aucune autre information, je serais sceptique, mais j'ai plutôt confiance en Victrix après avoir vu ce qu'ils ont fait pour l'instant.

Lots of news this week and here is the latest.

We have just received the render of the Early Imperial Roman Centurion along with renders of the resized scutum. With the Centurion now completed there is just the musician to finish sculpting and this set will move onto the tooling.

This means we will shortly commence sculpting Macedonian/Hellenistic Cavalry and Carthaginian War Elephants.

I have been told that the Ancient Spanish Cavalry are tooling rapidly and we may see a release date mid to late August. Once this set is complete we start tooling the Numidian Infantry.

Final figure option that will be on the command crew.

Macedonian/Greek cavalry sculpting has now started and this should be a relatively quick project as we already have many of the figure components in digital form from previous Greek sets.

The brief for the war Elephant is ready for the sculptor. At present the thoughts are to provide options for 2 differently posed elephants and to provide a choice of crew for Carthaginians, Romans and Numidians.

Once these are complete we will move on to the Early Imperial Roman Auxiliaries set.

Today I received renders of the Ancient Greek Cavalry horses. Bodies, heads, arms, weapons etc are now underway and will be posted once complete.
