Shield Captain

sundaypreview-apr5-thh_01-shieldcaptain-

Shield Captains are gifted leaders and powerful warriors, unmatched by all but the very greatest of enemy champions. Armed with an eternity blade and praesidium shield, this miniature can be used to represent either a Shield Captain or Tribune on the tabletop, and comes with a choice of two heads – bare or helmeted.

Custodian Guard Sodality

sundaypreview-apr5-thh_02-custodianguard

The most common formations in the Legio Custodes are the ranks of Custodian Guard, who brush aside lesser beings with great sweeps of their legendary guardian spears. This kit builds six Custodian Guard, of which one can be honoured with the responsibility of carrying a magisterium vexilla, and includes 12 helmeted and 11 unhelmeted heads for you to customise your chosen warriors of the Emperor.

Sentinel Guard Sodality

sundaypreview-apr5-thh_03-sentinelguard-

Sentinel Guard trade their guardian spears for nimble sentinel warblades and heavy praesidium shields, making them some of the finest defensive troops in the Imperium. This squad of six Sentinels includes seven unhelmeted heads, six helmeted heads with interchangeable plumes, and six unique shields that are interchangeable across your elite infantry.

Venatari Sodality

sundaypreview-apr5-thh_04-venetari-0f8th

Dive into combat with an awe-inspiring squad of winged Venatari – elite jump pack troops. This kit makes six miniatures that can be run as one large unit or two squads of three, and each Venatari can be armed for ranged combat with a powerful kinetic destroyer, paired with a tarsus buckler, or for melee with a vicious verutum lance.

You can easily customise your airborne hunters with different wing designs, shoulder pads, and head options. They can also be equipped with the new neutronium cascade mine – a terrifyingly powerful weapon that can vapourise the internal systems of vehicles when it detonates.

Custodian Dreadnought

sundaypreview-apr5-thh_05-dread-7ycpwook

It’s rare for a Custodian to receive injuries that neither heal in full nor kill them outright, but when one does, they’re interred in the mighty metallic form of a specialised Dreadnought. This kit builds two variants: the Contemptor-Achillus – armed with a spear and lastrum storm bolter, infernus incinerator, or an Adrathic combi-destructor mounted on each arm – or the sword-wielding Contemptor-Galatus. Both variants are highly poseable and come with multiple cosmetic options.

Coronus Grav-carrier

sundaypreview-apr5-thh_06-coronus-kfwb6z

It takes a transport of prodigious size to carry the massive armoured forms of the Legio Custodes across the battlefield, which is where the Coronus Grav-carrier comes in. Its swift, sleek, and well-armoured body can transport a full six-person Sodality and an attached officer, while providing fire support with a twin Arachnus blaze cannon and either a twin lastrum bolt cannon or a twin neutronium cascade projector.

Caladius Grav-tank

sundaypreview-apr5-thh_07-caladius-oh36l

As powerful as they are, Custodians can’t be expected to tackle every Traitor and monstrous daemon themselves – which is why they maintain a sizable motor pool of advanced and powerful tanks. The Caladius is one such armoured vehicle, skimming over the ground on high-tech hover plates while leaving enemy transports as smoking hulls and infantry little more than red smears thanks to its turret-mounted twin Iliastus accelerator cannon. It can augment this firepower with either a twin lastrum bolt cannon or a twin neutronium cascade projector.

Caladius Annihilator Grav-tank

sundaypreview-apr5-thh_08-caladiusannihi

The Annihilator variant of the Caladius grav-tank swaps out the twin Iliastus accelerator cannon with a twin Arachnus blaze carronade. In concentrated fire mode, you can blast holes in heavily armoured enemy tanks, while the AP3 burst fire mode melts through power armour. As with its sister Caladius kit, you have a choice of mounting a twin lastrum bolt cannon or a twin neutronium cascade projector on the front of the hull.

Rules for all of these miniatures can be found in the Liber Custodes: The Forces of the Emperor Army Book, and now might also be a good time to stock up on Retributor Armour.**

Charonite Ogryn Section

sundaypreview-apr26-thh_01-ogryns-ugvaoz

Units of Charonite Ogryns are among the most effective shock troops in the Solar Auxilia ranks, melding natural brute strength and resilience with biochemical and cybernetic enhancements from the Dark Age of Technology. They come equipped with a wide variety of close combat weapons melded onto their forearms, with their standard Charonite claws able to scythe through power armour like paper and bisect the Space Marine within.

Each box contains four Charonite Ogryns with interchangeable weapons – six Charonite claws, two Charonite blades, two Charonite crushers, and two Charonite shredders – and cosmetic options to personalise your brutes.

Rapier Fire Support Battery

sundaypreview-apr26-thh_01-firesupportra

Rapier Carriers bridge the gap between the Solar Auxilia’s man-portable firearms and vehicle-mounted cannons, allowing infantry sections to move heavy weapons to the front lines without the need for heavy and cumbersome tanks. The Rapier Fire Support Battery comes with two platforms, each able to mount one of two indirect fire weapons – the classic rapid-fire quad launcher, or the mole mortar, which fires its shells through the earth to explode beneath weaker armour plates.

Each platform also comes with a separate Gunner crew miniature, who has multiple cosmetic options.

Rapier Direct Fire Battery

sundaypreview-apr26-thh_03-directfirerap

There is also a version of the Rapier Carrier that focuses on direct-fire support weapons, with each of the two platforms able to mount a gravis heavy bolter battery, a gravis multi-laser array, or a laser destroyer. This gives infantry-based armies tools to tackle a wide variety of enemy units, from hordes of lesser chaff to heavy tanks – at a very competitive cost in points.

Each platform also comes with a separate Gunner crew miniature, who has multiple cosmetic options.

Journal Tactica: The Battle of Tallarn Part One

sundaypreview-apr26-thh_04-battleoftalla

What began as an Iron Warriors invasion expecting assured victory blossomed into the single largest tank engagement of the entire Horus Heresy, leaving the formerly verdant world of Tallarn a dusty wasteland littered with thousands of wrecked vehicles. Journal Tactica: The Battle of Tallarn Part One chronicles the opening stages of this apocalyptic war, and includes extensive background lore as well as a new Legendary Mission that pits a squadron of Iron Warriors vehicles against a crushing ambush from Tallarn resistance fighters.

This book also includes a new mission pack for Armoured Spearhead engagements, which are designed to work with armies packed to the brim with tanks and armoured vehicles. Accordingly, there are also rules for Dracosan Command Tanks and Spartan Prometheus Command Tanks, as well as the new Solar Auxilia Rapier Carriers and Charonite Ogryns.
